How to Organize a Perfect Housewarming Party

in Property & Architecture

Moving into a new place is a major event in your life, which is why you may want to share it with some people who mean a lot to you. However, since you’ve just moved, your budget might be a tad limited and the last thing you want is to make a mess in a place that you’ve just spent so much time, effort and money setting up. This is why you need to make sure that your organization skills are up to this particular task. With that in mind and without further ado, here are several tips to organize a perfect housewarming party.

You don’t have to do it right away

The first thing you need to understand is the fact that it’s completely acceptable to wait for a couple of weeks before throwing the housewarming party. So, take some time to get accustomed to the place, as well as to plan everything out. Then, when you’re ready, start organizing the party.

Easy party snacks

The first thing you need to keep in mind is the fact that you don’t have to overdo it. Simply stick to the budget and get yummy low-cost ingredients. Other than this, you need to avoid something that makes too much mess. This, however, is not something that a lot of people are going to listen to, because a lot of them just can’t imagine a party without dip-based snacks. Still, where there’s will, there’s always a way and you should try to look for the least sticky and messy snacks that you can come up with.

Send out invites

Other than this, you need to make a list of invitees, naturally, while considering the number of people that your new home can take. Keep in mind, though that there are a lot of people who you just have to invite but you also need to leave some room open for meeting new people. Inviting your new neighbors to your housewarming party is probably the best way to get to know them. Finally, you also need to consider the format of the invites (digital or old-school). Remember that digital is eco-friendly and budget-friendly at the same time.

Arrange different areas

The next thing you need to consider is organizing different areas of your home. Naturally, you want to show people the entire place, however, the party itself should be contained to a single room. Having a party area will contain the damage to a single room and make the cleanup a piece of cake. Other than this, you should have a coat area and it is customary that all the coats are stacked on a bed.

Managing the gifts

Gifts themselves are a controversial issue. On the one hand, they’re supposed to be a surprise, yet, while moving into a new home, there are so many things you’ll need, which is why it’s by far the most practical to have a gift registry. Sacrificing the surprise element to pragmatism is usually a good idea in this scenario. This is also the simplest way to avoid getting duplicate presents, which is quite a frequent occurrence.

The entertainment

Next, you need to proceed with the entertainment and the first item on the list is the choice of music. Now, here you have several directions to take, depending on the agenda of the party. Do you want people to dance or talk? These two issues may require different playlists or at least a different volume. Because you have it all on YouTube, nowadays, you can pivot at any point of the evening. Other than this, you also need to arrange a dance area (move some furniture) and even come up with some party games to get things going.

Don’t worry about it too much, after all, the people who are going to attend this party are all close friends (at least the majority of them are) and the way this party is organized won’t change the way they think or feel about you. Also, you need to blow off some steam – this is what this party is all about. If you find all of this to be too stressful, the party itself is not mandatory. Still, with the right mindset, it can turn into a massive hit.
