3 Different Ways to Achieve Glass Skin

in Beauty

Whether it’s spring, summer, winter, or fall, dewy skin with an attractive translucent glow is always trending. Say goodbye to artificial glitter and shimmering highlighters and say hello to dewy honey skin!

The dewy skin trend has been steadily growing in Korea since 2013. The same trend also propelled skin care manufacturers to come up with a Korean skincare box that includes all beauty products needed to achieve the glass skin look.

Honey skin, more popularly known as “glass skin” means a poreless, clear, and translucent complexion. This look became a massive hit in the West through viral Instagram posts with #glassskin and #dewyskin.

To get this look, a multi-step skin care regimen is the key. Achieving this look starts with deep and mild cleansing, then moves on to exfoliation and toning, and ends with hydration and moisturizing.

Aside from following a multi-step skin care regimen, here are other ways of achieving “glass skin.”

Minimalist Way

If you can’t commit to an eight or ten-step beauty regimen, you can adopt a primary skin care regimen. Using one or two main skincare products from a Korean skincare box. In this case, dewy skin moisturizing creams are essential.

Back then, thick makeup was the trend, but as more and more women embraced the natural, glowing look, thick makeup felt stale. Vitamin serum filled Hydrating jelly masks, AHA peel, and bottled Vitamin C became the new skincare staples. Users love these products because aside from moisturizing the skin, they also tighten and brighten the skin.

With the Help of Makeup

If you’re already satisfied with your skin, you can get a glass-like finish with the help of makeup. Choose foundations with an emollient finish since they contain camellia seed, coconut oil, and squalene which are all instrumental in achieving that subdued glow.

You can also use highlighters with more translucent sheens. Tyron Machhausen, Chanel’s makeup artist, relied on an easy-to-tote no shimmer stick to achieve a glassy, sculpted look without contour or color.

What matters here is placement. Use translucent highlighters on high points of your face like the area above your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, the center of your top eyelid, and on the area below your brows, on your brow bone’s highest point. Once highlighted, start working on the blending. Never leave visible edges that would reveal your dewy skin secret.

The Beauty Inside-Out Way

This method is not just about the skincare products and makeup you use to achieve the dewy look. By changing your lifestyle, you can get glass-like complexion with deeply hydrated skin.

Altering your lifestyle means you might need to watch the food you eat, the amount of liquid you consume, and the quality of your sleep.

The first thing you should do is to drink enough water. Also, you can try eating food with high water content like melons, tomatoes, romaine, and cucumbers. Water is trapped within food nutrients, allowing optimal water absorption that is essential to keep the body hydrated longer.

Sleeping better is as therapeutic to your skin as eating healthy and drinking enough water. Not having enough sleep can worsen acne, speed up the skin aging process, and dehydrate the skin. On the other hand, well-rested skin will appear better circulated, better hydrated, plumper, and more radiant.

It’s not too late to adopt a new skin regimen that will help you achieve a healthier and more radiant glow.  If you are serious about achieving a dewy and glass-like complexion, follow any of the steps mentioned above.
