Freeing Up Space In Your Home In the Lead Up to Christmas

in Home Improvement

The festive season is fast approaching and increasing numbers of us are turning our minds to picking out the perfect Christmas tree and taking our decorations out of your adjustable ornament storage. Besides getting into the full force of decorating, this season also sees us spend more time in our homes and inviting more family members and friends around to spend quality time together. So, it’s high time that we start prepping our properties to ensure that our homes are clear, clean, aesthetically pleasing, and something to be proud of where we can spend time comfortably when people start turning up. An important part of this process is clearing space. We need to make space for the extra decorations and features that we incorporate into our living space over this season, as well as freeing up space for more seating or larger dining spaces where we can indulge in festive meals and treats, and entertain anyone who passes by. Here are a couple of steps that you can take to achieve this!

Mount Your TV

We spend a lot of time in front of the television over the holiday period. This isn’t all too surprising. The temperature outdoors drops and the weather takes a turn for the worse, so we’re relatively reluctant to go outside anyway. Then when you take into account the huge array of Christmas specials being aired and the wide variety of favourite Christmas films being screened, it’s not all too surprising that many of us fall in to the temptation to cuddle up in front of the screen with a mug of mulled wine and a mince pie. But when you need to free up space for your Christmas tree to fit around permanent furniture like your sofa, chairs, and coffee table, you might want to consider removing your television from a stand or cabinet and placing it on the wall instead. This will clear up room for your tree to be placed. Make sure to have this work carried out by specialists in TV wall mounting. They will ensure that your tv is mounted properly. If you attempt to go DIY with this task, you might find your tv falls from the wall and breaks, which is an inconvenience and expense that you could really do without at this busy and costly time of year.

Place Items in Storage

If you have furniture that would be better off completely out of the way over the festive season, you might want to consider temporary external storage solutions. There are plenty of companies out there who will safely house your large belongings until you are ready to collect them and move them back into your home. This saves you the hassle of selling and rebuying large items. Instead, you can rest safe in the knowledge that your items are well looked after and only away for a short period of time.

These are just two steps that you can take to free up space in your home in preparation for the festive period! Incorporate them into your plan as soon as possible!
