Keeping your New Year’s resolution can be a difficult task. US News reports that 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail, which is largely due to people losing motivation. When they don’t see immediate results – whether that be dropping 25 pounds off their weight or gaining 25 pounds of muscle after two gym sessions – they start to think that the resolutions aren’t worth it.
Chances are, if you’re reading this, you probably gave up your New Year’s resolution too. However, you can still pick them back up and kick your bad habits to the curb by looking at practical solutions and tangible benefits.
How to Stop Smoking
Stopping smoking is one of the most popular New Year’s resolutions because there are so many disadvantages to doing it. It’s expensive and has many negative effects on your health. Formany, a cloud pharmacy that dispenses prescriptions for men, notes that one in three men experience premature ejaculation and one in four new patients of erectile dysfunction are under 40, with studies linking smoking to these health conditions. While prescriptions can address issues like ED, premature ejaculation and hair loss (another side effect of smoking), kicking the habit can have a positive effect on your health and sex life too.
There are lots of methods you can explore to beat smoking, including nicotine replacement chewing gums or patches, using mouth sprays, and identifying when you smoke (such as whether you smoke in social situations or when you’re bored) and treating the behaviors that trigger the habit.
How to Keep an Exercise Routine
Another benefit to your health is to regularly exercise. Only 22.9% of Americans get enough exercise, says Fortune, making lack of exercise a popular habit to beat too. Some of the benefits of exercising are weight loss, having more energy, elevated mood, and improving the quality of your sleep.
However, if you’re out of shape, getting exercise may feel like a chore. You get out of breath easily, your body aches all the time and it’s difficult to find the time. WebMD says you can increase your chances of sticking to your exercise routine by bringing a friend (you can encourage each other), steadily ramping up your exercise program, and by having various activities in your workout so that you don’t get bored.
How to Eat Healthier
There are lots of good reasons for eating healthier. Eating junk food from fast food joints all the time is expensive and can make you gain weight. By eating more fruits and vegetables, you could lose weight, sleep better, feel better and have better skin, bones, and teeth.
You may have an unhealthy diet now, but you can improve it. Try getting your family in on the healthy eating fun, making sure that all of you are eating your fruit and veg when you sit down for a meal together or think of healthy recipes that you can all cook together. Healthy food doesn’t have to be boring or bland if you research it.
If you’ve had difficult beating your bad habits in the past, then maybe this will help you out. Stay motivated and you’ll be able to kick your bad habits to the curb after all this time.
