How to Throw a Themed Costume Party

in Lifestyle

Nothing gives you that fall feeling quite like Halloween, and there’s no better way to celebrate Halloween than with a costume party. However, planning a themed costume party can be a lot of work, especially for a big crowd. If you’re throwing a themed costume party this Halloween, here’s how to do it.

Pick a Theme

The first thing you need to do when planning a party is pick a theme. Some costume parties are all about ‘80s movies followed by ‘80s fancy dress, while others are horror-themed or superhero-themed. It doesn’t matter what theme you choose; just make sure you pick one before the party so everyone can find the right costume.

Choosing a Venue

If you really want your costume party to be special, you can book a venue for the night of the party. While booking a venue does cost a bit of money, you won’t have to worry about any damage being done to your home or apartment. Plus, you can fit a lot more people in a venue than your home, so this is something to consider.

Invite Your Friends

A party is nothing without all your friends there, so make a list of all the people you want to invite and send out party invitations. You might also want to tell your friends to bring a person or two with them, that way the party is as big and awesome as possible. When you’re inviting people to a costume party, just make sure you don’t invite too many people to the venue.

Find a Costume

Once you’ve got the basics figured out, it’s time to pick out a costume for the party. Make sure the costume you choose fits the theme you picked, and try to be creative instead of picking the first thing that comes to mind. There are even lots of great sexy Halloween costumes out there to choose from, so you can turn heads with your beauty and your creativity at your costume party.

Music

Music is an essential part of every party, so make sure you’ve got a good playlist picked out for your costume party. You don’t have to fill the playlist with spooky Halloween music; just make sure you pick songs that people want to hear. Oftentimes, the best way to put together a playlist for a party is to ask each guest to contribute a song or two. You’ll also want to invest in a nice speaker system if you don’t have one already.

Food & Drinks

Of course, no party is complete without food and drinks for the guests. In addition to planning out the playlist, you should also figure out a few food and drink options you can offer at your party. You can rent a folding table to set up a drink station and mini buffet, and you may even be able to find a cheap catering option. Whatever you do, don’t skimp on food and drinks.

Party Games

Not everybody likes party games, but they can be a great way to spice up a themed costume party. Whether you choose something classic like charades or a contemporary favorite, there are so many fun games you can play with guests. When you combine these games with a few drinks and a group of friends, they’re even more fun.

Throwing a good costume party isn’t easy, but it’s not the hardest thing in the world, either. The most important thing is making sure guests are accommodated. If you want to throw a great themed costume party, make sure you pick a good spot, make a playlist, and focus on food and drinks.
