  1. Ship, Captain, Crew

This exciting dice game is perfect with a group of four friends, but the more the merrier. The goal of Ship, Captain, Crew is to obtain as ship, captain, and crew by rolling a 6, 5, and 4 in that order.

You’ll need:

  • 5 dice
  • Dice cup
  • Poker chips

You must get a ship before a captain and a captain before you get a crew. When each respective number is rolled, set the dice aside and roll the remaining dice.

After you’ve obtained your ship, captain, and crew, you can earn point with the remaining two dice. This is called your cargo. You have three tries to roll for your ship, captain, crew, and cargo.

Simply add up your three throws to determine your score. Keep track with the poker chips.

Determine who will go first by having each player roll a die. The highest roll goes first. Continue to the next player clockwise around the game table.

Don’t forget to have a dice bag on hand to keep all your pieces organized and together!

  1. Yahtzee

One of the classic and easy dice games out there is Yahtzee. You’ll need six dice.

Yahtzee uses a sheet of paper with thirteen boxes down one column. Each box contains a roll you must accomplish. During each turn, you must pick a box to achieve. If you are unable to do it, you put a zero in that box.

The sheet contains an upper and lower section. The upper section contains six boxes that say the following:

  • Count and add only aces
  • Count and add only twos
  • Count and add only threes
  • Count and add only fours
  • Count and add only fives
  • Count and add only sixes

If you get sixty-three or more points in the top section, you get an extra thirty-five points at the end of the game. Choose where to score your points wisely!

The bottom section contains seven sections that say the following:

  • 3 of a kind
  • 4 of a kind
  • Full House (2 of a kind, 3 of a kind)
  • Sm. Straight (sequence of 4)
  • Lg. Straight (sequence of 5)
  • Yahtzee (5 of a kind)
  • Chance (total of dice)

For both the 3 of a kind and 4 of a kind, don’t forget to add the remanding dice to your total score for that box.

On the contrary, a full house small straight, large straight, and Yahtzee all have a predetermined value regardless of dice number of twenty-five, thirty, forty, and fifty, respectively.

If you roll an additional Yahtzee, it’s worth one hundred points.

A chance box is used in the event you can’t score in any other open box. Simply add the total of your dice for your chance value. You only get one chance, so spend it wisely!

  1. Liar’s Dice

Liar’s Dice has very straightforward dice game rules. Each player will need five dice. Everyone rolls at the same time, keeping the numbers rolled a secret to only them. Next, each player makes a prediction on the value of all the dice on the table.

Each player will make a prediction once, going around the table clockwise. After each prediction, the other players can either continue playing, or challenge and call them a liar.

For example, a player can bet that there are three 4’s on the table, even if they themselves only have two in front of them. The other players must decide if they think there is a total of three 4’s on the table or if it’s untrue.

  1. Run For It!

Run For It! requires six dice, a pencil, and a paper. The goal of the game is to roll dice that create a run or a sequence. Each die that is part of the sequence is worth five points. The first player to reach one hundred points wins the game.

Each player gets three tries to build up their sequence. Set aside the dice after each roll you believe will help build your run. For example, if after three turns a player rolls a 1-2-3 sequence, you get fifteen points.

The sequence must start with a 1.
