3 Tips for Shrinking Your Tummy

in Health & Well-being

Belly fat is one of those things that most people aren’t crazy about having. Not only can it make you feel insecure, but it can be downright uncomfortable. Your shirts hug your body tighter, your pants squeeze awkwardly, and you can never seem to find the right bathing suit.

Apart from tummy bulge being unsightly, it can also lead to health problems. Excess tummy fat is linked to obesity-related diseases as well as other dangerous conditions.  However, belly bulge doesn’t only happen to people who fall within a BMI classified as obese. Seemingly thin people can have an excess of storage in their abdominal section that can be incredibly difficult to get rid of.

If you’re tired of feeling insecure about your belly fat, then take a look at some of the most practical ways to shrink your tummy.

Reduce Alcohol Intake

Alcohol is something that shouldn’t be consumed more than occasionally. Beyond being addictive and potentially destructive, it’s also incredibly fattening! Studies show that people who abuse alcohol regularly have higher levels of belly fat.  They don’t call it a “beer belly” for nothing.

If you notice that your belly is growing, and you’ve already ruled out the possibility of pregnancy, ask yourself whether it may be connected to your alcohol consumption.

If you want to keep a trim midsection, then consider cutting back on your booze, or even better— eliminating it from your diet altogether!

Eat More Fiber

Fiber is one of the best things that you can put into your body to assist with digestion. Incorporating plenty of fiber into your diet will help you stay more regular, and reduce bloating. In addition to helping maintain regular bowel movements, it can actually suppress your appetite aiding in weight loss.

Since fiber is absorbed and expands in your belly giving you the sensation of being full.

Next time you want to reach for a snack, have something packed with fiber and you’ll feel much fuller!

Eat Less Unhealthy Fats

Not all fats are created equally. There are fats that are found in places like avocados and almonds which are full of healthy and good fats that balance your diet. However, there are other fats found in places like deep fried and processed foods that have absolutely no positive effects on the body.

Studies show that people who eat a diet with high amounts of unhealthy fats are six times more likely to have excess abdominal bulge.  A wobbly belly isn’t the only thing to worry about as a result of bad fats. It can also contribute to heart disease. Lower your intake of bad fats and your body will thank you for it in many ways.
