If you’re a worrier, you’re not alone. In fact, serious worrying is something that affects around 10 percent of the adult population, with nearly 60 percent of people saying that they regularly engage in some sort of worry that affects their life.
In this post, we take a look at some of the worries that we all share. We then ask what can be done about it.
Worry #1: Money And Future Financial Success
Worrying about the future and your future financial success is more common than you might think. People fear all sorts of things, including:
- The performance of their stock portfolio or pension fund
- Their ability to pay their bills
- The idea that they won’t be able to pay off their debts
To solve these problems, adopt sound financial principles. If you’re saving, make sure that you have a well diversified, all-weather fund that’ll keep making you money, no matter what happens in the markets. If you’re running low on cash, reduce your costs and change your lifestyle. Prioritize the feelings of wellbeing you get from being financially secure over having more possessions.
Worry #2: Relationships
Coming in at number two on the list is personal relationships. People worry about these all the time.
What’s more, it doesn’t seem to matter what your relationship status actually is. Single people, for instance, worry that they won’t be able to find a suitable partner, while those already in a relationship fear their partner leaving them for someone else.
Worry also occurs outside of romantic relationships. People fear that their colleagues at work do not like them, or that they’ve offended a friend.
To deal with this type of worry, the trick is to find ways to become less attached to what other people say or do. Realize that you can’t really do anything to control someone else. They will simply do what they want to do. By becoming less attached to a specific idea of your relationship with the other person, you liberate tremendous energy and douse anxiety.
Worry #3: Health Problems
Even if you’re perfectly healthy right now, you may worry about your health (or that of someone close to you). A little concern is often a good thing. It encourages you to make the right eating choices and go for exercise. However, when you have too much of it, it can take away from your enjoyment of life. If you perennially believe that you have cancer, for instance, you’ll struggle to feel a sense of relaxation and enjoyment. You’ll always be in a state of fear.
Worrying that you have a serious condition or disease is more common than you might think. Many people experience it because of the lack of control their health presents.
Pain is one of the biggest fears. People worry that they will get sick in such a way that they feel discomfort all the time. That’s why brands, such as Simply CBD, are so successful right now. We’re looking for products that can protect us against the discomfort of chronic disease.
To reduce worry about your health, you need to do a couple of things:
As you might imagine, neither of these is particularly easy to do. If it was, nobody would be particularly worried about their health.
As for number one, that’s simple: just eat better and exercise more. Reduce the stress in your life and make sure you make time for social interactions.
For number two, you’ll need some sort of spiritual assistance. It can be difficult to accept that things will eventually have to end for you. But it can be done when you change your perspective on life.
Worry #4: Job Security
Job security is another major worry for a lot of people. We fear that the way we make our money won’t be around forever. What’s more, we feel a constant sense of dread about going into the office and interacting with our colleagues.
The trick here is to realize that everyone else is in the same boat. Your boss probably dreads coming into work just as much as you do.
You can also remind yourself that more work will always be available. Even if your entire industry goes under, you can still make money elsewhere, even if it means creating your own enterprise.
So there you have it: the top things we worry about, ranked. Remember that these are subjects that concern most people. People who are indifferent to these aspects of life are few and far between.
